CMC Markets are hiring! We have a permanent opportunity for a Legal Counsel (3-5 PQE) to join our APAC Legal team, based onsite in our Barangaroo, Sydney office.Please note that this role is only open to Sydney based candidates with full working rights (Citizen/Permanent Resident).

Role This is a new role focusing on project related work, including the opportunity to provide legal advice and support to the establishment of a new business offering. The role also involves flexibility to assist on broader contract review and general legal advice to the broader CFD and Stockbroking business of CMC Markets in Australia and the APAC region. This is a key opportunity to upskill and gain invaluable experience within high achiever environment.
Please note that we operate onsite working and would require you to come into our Barangaroo office 5 days per week.
Responsibilities and competencies Report to and assist the Head of Legal APAC in connection with the key projects.Excellent organisational and transactional experience, in areas which include experience or exposure to financial services (including licensing considerations and general financial services advice), data protection and privacy laws and consumer fairness regimes. Ability to pro-actively provide advice and support in a project setting frequently requiring a dynamic and inquisitive approach.Clear, accurate and effective communication in providing quality legal services to a range of key business stakeholders, including key operational departments, Compliance and APAC Senior Management.General support to the APAC Legal Team, including general commercial contract review supporting a range of departments, including key technology supply agreements.Partnering and working closely with external legal counsel and external consultant(s), ensuring that key legal risks are identified and addressed, and ensuring that external service providers are effective and held accountable for their work. Provide legal input as required into APAC policies and procedures, as required in connection with the project.Practising solicitor with an unrestricted licence (3 to 5 years' post qualification experience).Exposure to financial services (experience in financial services will be highly regarded).Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complex legal issues in verbal and written reports.Excellent organisation, analytical and negotiation skills.Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.Willingness to learn and tackle new challenges.CFD and/or stockbroking product knowledge highly regarded.Charity give-back days.1 extra annual day of leave for your birthday.A dedicated benefits & wellbeing hub, for you to save on groceries, access retailer discounts and enjoy various resources to enhance your physical & mental wellbeing,Social Club, Women@CMC, LinkedIn Learning and more.CMC Markets is powered by our people.
