The Branch enjoys an extraordinary diversity of exciting and challenging litigation and advisory work, working on matters that are topical and often involve public interest issues. Matters cover areas such as personal injury claims (including those involving institutional abuse), police civil claims, coronial inquests, vexatious litigant applications, tortious claims, defamation, post-sentence supervision and detention orders, judicial review (including those involving prisoners) and matters involving the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act.About the roleWe have exciting opportunities for eager and enthusiastic Legal Assistants to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Branch. The role will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to a team of solicitors.Responsibilities will include:Preparing, formatting and reviewing legal documentation, including correspondence and court documentsLiaising with barristers' clerks and preparing briefs for counsel, inclusive of the collation of e-briefsFiling and service of court documents via online platformsAutonomous file management - conduct of matter related tasks, monthly billing and maintaining efficient and effective electronic filesCalendar and mailbox managementThe successful candidates will have previous legal support (administrative) experience, preferably within a litigation environment.
