Position Summary: The Legal Assistant will support attorney(s) with administrative tasks, prepare and organize legal documents, schedule and calendar management, communicate with opposing counsel, court personnel and clients.
Location & Commitments: Practice Area / Department: ConstructionStatus: Full-time / Non-ExemptWork Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week.In-Office: Hybrid / In-Office: This position will report to work at our office in Maitland.Responsibilities: Draft correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and varied other documents.Organize client conferences & attorney meetings.Schedule hearings with judicial assistants (including contact with opposing counsel, court reporter, and preparing notice).Schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses & other special functions.Prepare expense reports and check requests through accounting.Maintain attorneys' calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, depositions.Manage attorneys daily calendar items and prepare each for meetings & hearings.Maintain attorneys' Outlook email.Case Screening / OriginationAssist with investigation as needed using Lexis Nexis and other tools.File pleadings with state and federal court through e-Filing.Prepare discovery documents and notices of filing, including interrogatories, requests for production, and admissions.Prepare for pretrial and proofread briefs and other pleadings.Performs other duties as assigned.Benefits: The firm offers a generous benefits package along with compensation based on experience level.

Requirements
Requirements & Competencies: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).Organized with attention to detail.Basic understanding of court and administrative proceedings and documentation.Basic understanding of lawsuit summaries, litigation files, and proper maintenance of all legal records.Proficiency in administrative tasks.Works well in a team environment.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.Work Environment: The ability to perform the following physical activities are necessary in the performance of this job: Sit and use a computer for long periods of time; use a computer to accomplish the duties of the position (including typing and seeing); read and write in English; think strategically, communicate expectations, and establish priorities.
