The disciplines of Anthropology and Sociology are integrated within the School of Media, Creative Arts, and Social Inquiry. They play a significant role in delivering high-quality programs within this school. The Anthropology and Sociology Major is offered as part of the Bachelor of Arts degree and encompasses a range of topics, including sociological theory, identity, globalization, language use, sustainability, community development, public issues, social justice, and human rights. The program also equips students with the conceptual skills necessary to understand and respond to both global and local changes, as well as practical skills for conducting qualitative research in the Social Sciences.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars.Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and field excursions.Adapt, initiate, develop, and produce course materials.Utilize technology-enhanced teaching methods and develop web-based resources to improve student learning outcomes.Carry out research within your area of expertise.Play a significant role in major research projects, including leading a research team when appropriate and securing research funding.Supervise research projects completed by Honours, Postgraduate coursework, and Higher Degree by Research students.Provide high-quality teaching to undergraduate, Honours, and postgraduate students.Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching practices.Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and/or studio sessions as appropriate to stimulate and foster student learning.Undertake nationally competitive and high-quality research in your discipline or field.Develop a coherent research program, agreed upon through the PCP process.Participate in and serve as a co-investigator or chief investigator on applications for competitive funding.As this is a Fixed-term Position, you must have working rights for the tenure of this role. Essential Criteria: A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.Demonstrated experience / capacity to engage in competitive grant applications.Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination role.Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
