Salary: Level 2/3, $32.87 - $37.37 per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2023)
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a highly effective, dedicated and enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistant to provide classroom level support to enable the delivery of high quality, student focused learning programs.

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities.
Each year we have added an additional cohort and will reach our full complement of Year 7 -12 in 2025.
Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, nine science laboratories, and nature play area.
Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct.
Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024), includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre and general classrooms.
The Role As Special Needs Education Assistant, you will form part of our dedicated team of staff working with students with a range of special needs and other mental health and developmental disabilities and/or disorders.
In this role you will collaborate with the classroom teacher to assist in the planning and delivery of educational programs to support the learning and development of students.
In this role you will predominantly work with students in our learning support pathway and mainstream classes.
The successful applicant will, under general guidance; identify, develop, and deliver specific intervention programs for students with special needs, and should display the ability to effectively support the specific learning needs of individual adolescents with varying degrees of disability.
The ability to work independently, and at times without supervision, and the ability to think on your feet and use your initiative to manage challenging behaviours, will be highly regarded.
To ensure high quality outcomes for students, you will build positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and stakeholders.
The successful applicant will ideally have strong interpersonal skills, high levels of personal organisation (including effective record keeping) and the capacity to ensure compliance with college and Department of Education policies and procedures, under the guidance of the Program Coordinator – Specialised Autism Learning Program and Learning Support Coordinator.
