Located on the Camperdown Campus, Camden Campus or Centre of Crop and Digital Agriculture in Narrabri (NSW) in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of SydneyExciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer of Pasture Production to join the Faculty of ScienceBase Salary (Level B or C) $122,830 - $173,492 p.a + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) at The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer of Pasture Production. The successful applicant would bring knowledge of pasture production, agronomy, utilisation, and management. They will have a track record of success in teaching, research, and publications commensurate with an early/mid-career agricultural scientist on a rising trajectory. The successful applicant will have research interests that complement and/or enrich the existing strengths and expertise of the School. They will show a willingness to contribute to current research programs, and in the initiation of internationally-leading research programs focusing on the production, utilisation and management of grazing systems.The University places emphasis on research excellence with impact; interdisciplinary research is encouraged. SOLES has a program of undergraduate teaching in agriculture from first year to Honours/Masters level and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this teaching program through subjects in plant and animal production at multiple campuses, in addition to being actively involved in postgraduate training. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in management and administration and should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the promotion of teaching and learning.About youThe University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Pasture Production who has:a PhD in pasture agronomy or a related disciplineknowledge and experience gained at postdoctoral level in pasture management for livestock production, or other pasture and animal-based agronomic research, with a track record of quality research publications as first or senior authorexperience in developing and using spatial models, proximal/remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and/or other digital technologies to describe variation in pasture production and utilisation for livestock production is desirabletrack record of funding and experience in successful collaborative projectsthe ability to lead an independent research program as well as being an enthusiastic and successful team membera willingness to promote SOLES and inter-Faculty activities within the livestock and agronomy industries through research and training programs with farmers, advisors and commercial suppliersthe ability to outline a vision for how your planned research would complement and/or enrich the existing strengths and expertise of the School and would benefit from our diverse farm resources across NSWthe ability to develop, coordinate, and provide specialist, research-led teaching on pasture production and managementexperience of successful supervision of honours and higher degree research students, including PhD students, either formally or on a day-to-day basis is desirableexcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and time management skillsdemonstrated understanding and experience of relevant work health and safety and biosecurity issues including laboratory- and field-based worka valid driver's licencea Q fever vaccination may be required prior to starting in the role.To keep our community safe, please be aware of our COVID safety precautions which form our conditions of entry for all staff, students and visitors coming to campus.Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
