We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Northern Clinical School.
In this role you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation while continuing to build your academic skills.
The appointee will also have an opportunity to take a leadership role in the teaching and assessment of the Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine (PAAM) block of the Sydney Medical Program and contribute to other postgraduate coursework/research programs as appropriate.
To be considered for this role you will be eligible for a clinical appointment in mental health as a psychiatrist within NSLHD at Hornsby Hospital.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Teaching engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education
undertake independent teaching and apply research or scholarly activity to enhance educational practices and outcomes
develop innovative teaching approaches and evaluate teaching and learning effectiveness for continuous improvement
liaise with professional staff and affiliates to co-ordinate the delivery of teaching to MD students in the Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine block.
Research conduct original research independently or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding
engage in translational research and establish collaborations for research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement
you will have an opportunity to collaborate in research undertaken in the CADE Clinic.
build a professional profile through participation in conferences, seminars, and outreach activities
Administration carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings
contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda
undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you: AHPRA registered as a specialist with RANZCP-recognized qualification as a psychiatrist e.g., FRANZCP or equivalent
proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice
demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate students using a range of media
broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery
demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
have an area of clinical expertise within psychiatry defined by topic and/or population e.g.
old age, mood disorders, anxiety, youth mental health
developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.
