Part-time 0.8 FTE / 4 days a week, Continuing Position for a Lecturer in Indigenous Health Located at Sydney Medical School Campus with travel required to Dubbo and Lismore Salary Academic Level B $122,830 – 145,858 + Clinical Loading + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney Medical School is the largest provider of vocational medical education in Australasia and is at the forefront of online learning for clinicians.
The Master of Medicine (Critical Care) was established in 2015 and has a significant enrolment of students and alumni.
There are a broad range of study areas available including the basic sciences.
The primary role of the Lecturer (Indigenous Health) is to contribute to the teaching and learning efforts within the Sydney Medical School while working with the support and guidance of more senior academic staff to develop their research profile and education proficiency.
The role works within a team to deliver programs and teaching to medical and allied health students attending the UCRH campuses Lismore and Grafton.
As a part of a team, you will deliver various teaching and experience-based learning events, support the Baribunmani Program which is designed to engage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to move into the health workforce, and coordinate the Upskilling Our Mob program in partnership with the Simulation team and local ACCHS that delivers competency-based training to Aboriginal health workers and clinical staff.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Identify and engage key stakeholders in the community, including Aboriginal Medical Services and the Local Health District, maintain regular contact with them via meetings and surveys, and updates.
Develop and grow relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Deliver Aboriginal history and health teaching to medical and allied health students.
Assist in the development and delivery of training materials for youth and student programs.
Perform other duties that are normally within the range of skills for an employee of this classification including reporting, engagement with research projects based at the UCRH.
Work with a team to develop and deliver strategies in line with the UCRH and University Strategic plan.
Participate in peer support with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at the UCRH.
Engage with ACCHS and the Simulation Centre Team to coordinate the Upskilling Our Mob program.
Work with a team to deliver a program to engage young Aboriginal people to choose health careers.
Travel to Dubbo and Lismore campuses regularly.
About you: Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and a passion for Aboriginal people, culture, health, history, and change.
Evidence of strong links and respect within the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings, and experience and demonstrable skills in engaging effectively with students from a variety of backgrounds.
Strong track record as a collaborative member of project teams.
A developing knowledge and understanding of the key issues in the higher education sector or willingness to learn.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
