About The Team This position is within the School of Agricultural Sciences (College of Environmental and Life Sciences).

The Land Management Group is part of SoilsWest, which leads soils-related research and outreach at Murdoch University.

WA State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre Centre for Crop and Food Innovation Centre for Sustainable Farming Systems Centre for Animal Production and Welfare Your New Role! The lecturer in Crop and Soil Management will teach and supervise in crop and soil management while developing research expertise. They will contribute to work on crop and soil management in Bangladesh and West Australia under a project "Change in soil and water dynamics and supporting adoption of Conservation in Bangladesh (SLAM/2022/101 SACA) funded by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). The goal is to examine the sustainability of conservation agriculture for rice-based cropping.

Your Key Responsibilities will include: Work on an ACIAR-funded project, SLAM/2022/101 (SACA). Develop an academic research profile and professional expertise in the area of crop and soil management. Make a significant contribution to independent research by producing quality publications. Contribute to the University's success in grant activity. This includes making applications for external competitive research funds individually and as a member of a team. Contribute to teaching within the discipline, including unit coordination, preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, seminars, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and/or fieldwork. Develop and practice innovative teaching and learning methods. Initiate and develop course material and undertake unit, program and/or course planning and coordination. Supervise students undertaking undergraduate, honours, postgraduate and HDR research projects. Consult with, and provide advice to, undergraduate, postgraduate and HDR students. Contribute to the School (including Land Management Group and SoilsWest), the University, the profession, and the discipline. Participate in the University's Annual Career Development Conversation (ACDC). Undertake such other duties as determined by the School Dean. Selection Criteria: A PhD in an area relevant to the appointment. Demonstrated expertise in soil and crop science research in agriculture. Demonstrated experience in crop and soil science and the management of crops and soils. Demonstrated experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Demonstrated ability to engage in high quality research including effective contribution to research teams to deliver projects funded with competitive grant funds. Demonstrate high levels of written and oral communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities, work effectively as a team member and play a leadership role in teaching and learning activities. Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary and collegial team, including partnerships in Australia and Bangladesh. A valid driver's licence. Ability to work outside of normal office hours when required. A willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis.
