About the office The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business.
The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney.
The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.

About the role As a Lecturer, you will teach computer science courses in face-to-face and blended learning environments at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
You will conduct and foster research in artificial intelligence, image processing and data science areas.
You will supervise industry-aligned courses, seek opportunities for attracting external grant income and foster collaborative links with industry.
You will undertake academic administrative duties that may include moderation of courses offered at the other campuses.
Active involvement in professional engagement and cross-disciplinary initiatives is encouraged.
You are also expected to demonstrate excellence in both student engagement and community relations, as appropriate to the position.

Key Responsibilities Teach foundational and advanced computer science courses with a focus on artificial intelligence and data science specialisations; Actively contribute to the design and development of curriculum with reference to contemporary advancements in computer science discipline; Conduct high quality research and contribute to knowledge through scholarship, publication and presentation and execute a research plan that aligns with University's strategic research priorities; Provide management, as appropriate, in the coordination and delivery of courses; Contribute to the governance, marketing and promotion, and administrative activities to promote the discipline, School and wider University.
Qualifications, skills & experience Possession of a doctoral qualification in computer science, or equivalent accreditation and/or standing; Membership of the Australian Computer Society; A record of research in computer science discipline in particular; artificial intelligence and data science which demonstrate a capacity to make an autonomous contribution; Teaching experience, including the ability to develop and deliver computer science courses, particularly in artificial intelligence and data science including machine learning, deep learning, data visualisation, data analytics, operating systems, and computer architecture at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, which includes the capacity to incorporate new technologies and new approaches to teaching and learning; Networking skills and an ability to support the national and international positioning of the School in computer science or cognate disciplines; Capability in attracting internal and national competitive grants.
