Location ProfileYinnar Primary School, situated at the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges in Gippsland, is fortunate to have a supportive and knowledgeable community that values education. The small rural community of Yinnar is experiencing growth, evidenced by the transformation of farming land into residential housing. Our school currently has an enrolment of 242 students.
At Yinnar Primary School, we guide our younger learners to stretch their minds, supporting them as they develop into resilient, reflective, and resourceful life-long learners. Our school promotes values that empower students to contribute positively to the school and wider communities. Our students live and learn by our values: Growth Mindset, Respect, Aim High, Curiosity, and Enthusiasm (GRACE). We want our students to leave our school as learners, not just achievers. Student voice is important and empowers students to engage in their learning.
Our school promotes the consistent use of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) in every classroom, characterized by carefully planned lessons, clear instructions, and systematic monitoring of student progress.
Our school structure consists of 10 classes, predominantly composite grades, organized into two sub-school teams for Years 3-6 and Prep-2, with each teacher working closely with a buddy grade.
Fostering a strong partnership between families and the school through clear communication is key to student success. All parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education and school events.

RoleAn education support class position will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports educational services provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups of up to 4 in controlled circumstances where the responsibility for students remains with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level. A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes, typically involving accountability for a single function or coordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.Assisting teachers within an educational program by undertaking specific support tasks or coordination of the support function.Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialized student/teacher support roles that require specific qualifications and/or training.Technical tasks requiring a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles.An education support class position at this range will initially be limited to routine tasks carried out under close supervision. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed regularly where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available.
ResponsibilitiesProvides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.Supports communication between teachers and parents.Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting and meals.Communicates with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.Addresses immediate behavioral presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy.Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides.Provides medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.Provides specialized communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
