Location Profile OFFICER SPECIALIST SCHOOL PROFILE Officer Specialist School is a purpose-built facility servicing the needs of students aged between 5-18, with mild to severe intellectual and associated disabilities in the shires of Cardinia and Casey.
The school opened in 2014 and has seen rapid growth in its student population, necessitating the recruitment of new staff and enhancements to our facilities.
There are two departments at the school, Primary and Secondary, which include classrooms, visual and performance arts spaces, food technology kitchens, multipurpose spaces, and extensive therapy spaces.
The school has recently opened two sensory playgrounds.
School staff work in transdisciplinary teams that include teaching staff, allied health practitioners, and education support staff to cater for the diverse range of student abilities and needs.

Role Learning Specialists will be skilled classroom practitioners who deliver high-quality teaching and learning while having responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.
The Learning Specialist role aims to build excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.
Responsibilities The key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:
Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice. Modelling exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons. Working with the school leadership team to develop effective teacher practice. Leading the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies. Providing professional learning, including observation and feedback of teacher practice. Supporting teachers to seek and act on feedback regarding their practice. Providing evidence-based feedback to inform teaching effectiveness. Supervising and mentoring student teachers. Modelling effective use of student data to inform teaching approaches. Promoting school-wide professional learning structures. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).
