Ballarat Specialist School caters for students aged from 3 to 18 years who have a diagnosed intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound. Selection Criteria
SC1:
Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice.
SC2:
Demonstrated expertise in the implementation of Victorian teaching and learning model.
SC3:
Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning.
SC4:
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to engage with the school community.
SC5:
Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values.
SC6:
Ability to support applied learning in Senior School classrooms.
Role
Learning Specialists are highly skilled classroom practitioners who deliver high-quality teaching and learning and have responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons and mentoring teachers.
Responsibilities
The key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:
Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
Model exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons.
Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies.
Develop curriculum in a major learning area.
Provide professional learning and develop processes for observation and feedback.
Supervise and train pre-service teachers.
Model the use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
Collaborate with leaders to build relational trust and leadership skills.
Support teachers and PLC leaders with planning.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
Conditions of Employment

Appointment subject to a satisfactory pre-employment check.
A probationary period may apply.
VIT LANTITE
To be eligible for employment, a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching and must meet LANTITE requirements if applicable.
