Matchett Constructions is seeking a skilled and experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join our growing team in East Toowoomba, QLD.
This is a full-time opportunity for an exceptional carpenter to take on a key leadership role, overseeing a team of carpenters and contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects.
What you'll be doing Supervise and coordinate a team of carpenters, ensuring productivity, quality of work, and adherence to safety standards.Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to plan and direct the work of the carpentry crew.Perform complex carpentry tasks such as framing, finishing, and cabinetry installation.Collaborate with project managers and other trades to ensure the smooth progression of construction projects.Maintain accurate records of materials, labour, and project progress.Mentor and train junior carpenters to develop their skills and knowledge.Proactively identify and resolve any issues or concerns that arise on the job site.What we're looking for Extensive experience as a qualified carpenter, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a leading hand or supervisory role.Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and construction methods.Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.Relevant trade qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Carpentry.What we offer
