Established in 1945 from one man, one paddock, to the fourth generation - The Mackay Group is Australia's leading banana grower. From planting the first crop of bananas over 76 years ago the farming business has expanded to produce bananas, papaya, sugarcane, cattle and avocados. The business is now directed by the family's 3rd generation and the company employs more than 550 employees across 9 locations stretching from Cooktown to Melbourne. In more recent years, this vertically integrated business has expanded into sales, ripening and processing of produce.
Location: This position is based in Tropical Far North Queensland, approximately a 20-minute drive from Mackays' head office in Tully.
Transport is available to the Farms from Tully or Mission Beach.
About the Position: The Packing Shed Supervisor will oversee the packing operations, ensuring all orders are packed to the highest quality and dispatched on time.
This is a full-time position, working a 4-day week (38 hours). Enjoy a 3-day weekend.
This position directly reports to the Packing Shed Manager and is responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:
Comply with all relevant workplace health and safety, environmental, and food safety regulations, while maintaining high-quality standards.Work closely with the Packing Shed Manager to manage production output, while satisfying seasonal fluctuations and supply and demand.Ensure safe and efficient operations by overseeing pre-start checks, enforcing correct PPE usage and maintaining accurate and detailed records for daily production.Oversee the efficient packing of produce in line with customer specifications.Lead, supervise, and continuously train the packing shed team to achieve operational goals.Coordinate routine equipment servicing and repairs in collaboration with the maintenance team.About you: Demonstrated experience in a similar role, is desirable.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and problem-solving skills.Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and able to adapt to job specific software interfaces.How to apply: This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and energetic individual looking for a new and challenging role within a growing and progressive organisation.
