We're looking for an experienced Lead Designer to take full ownership of Medibank.com.au's product design, leading a team of designers to deliver an excellent digital experience for over 4 million monthly visitors.
As we undergo an exciting transformation of our website and Design Language System (DLS), you'll have a unique opportunity to shape and define the creative direction, vision, user experience, and e-commerce strategy.
You'll oversee product design across multiple multidisciplinary squads while also staying hands-on with your own squad.
As a key member of our Product Design leadership team, you'll play a crucial role in driving our digital strategy, elevating design practices across the organisation, and contributing to a positive, collaborative design team culture.

The Product Design Team At Medibank, Product Design spans the entire design process, from uncovering user needs through research to crafting exceptional visual and interaction design.
Our approach is centred around putting people first, and we value collaboration across disciplines to learn from one another and continuously improve.
You'll be joining and helping to lead a talented team of over 18 designers, each bringing their own unique skills and creativity to the table.
About the role? This is a key position within the Product Design Leadership team, with a primary focus on ecommerce for our retail, corporate, and other insurance product customers.
You'll collaborate closely with your design peers to create a seamless, end-to-end customer journey.
On a typical day, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategy, align designs and teams with our vision and information architecture, and explore best practice patterns to enhance our Design Language System (DLS).

Mentor and guide designers, helping them build confidence, expand their skills, and navigate challenges.Cultivate a strong, supportive team culture that prioritises trust, collaboration, and individual growth, ensuring that each team member feels valued and empowered to do their best work.Be a role model by supporting fellow designers in advocating for best practices and design solutions within their squads.Lead the ongoing improvement and evolution of design processes, governance, and infrastructure to enhance team performance and efficiency.Shape the team's roadmap by offering insights from a user-centred perspective and guiding them toward achieving measurable, impactful goals.You have A portfolio showcasing a strong track record in ecommerce UX, Design Language Systems, and related research activities, along with a solid understanding of front-end technologies, CMS, and SEO.A sharp eye for combining beautiful visual design with thoughtful, user-centred experiences.6+ years of experience in Product/UX design (or equivalent).3+ years in a hands-on design leadership role, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent leadership impact on large-scale projects.Anything else?
