Merit List/Pools and How They Will Be UsedApplicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool. If the applicant agrees, the results may be shared with other Australian Public Service (APS) agencies for filling similar roles. Applicants may be offered a future role without the need to reapply. A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months. This merit list/pool may be used to fill other vacancies anywhere in Australia.

The Key Duties of the Position Include:Use large datasets of confidential administrative microdata (e.g. BLADE/PLIDA) to address research questions relevant to ACCC work.Work with investigation and/or project teams to define business problems, and to translate those problems into questions that can be answered with data.Scope and acquire data from internal and external sources, including by liaising with data providers and by providing input into the use of the agency's statutory information-gathering powers.Apply a broad range of analytical, business intelligence, and statistical and machine learning techniques to build repeatable solutions or derive accurate and relevant insights, to meet a wide variety of complex use cases.Communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.Develop and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including data specialists in counterpart agencies.Lead, develop, and mentor junior data specialists and contribute to capability-building initiatives to improve the agency's use of data.About YouIn order to succeed in the role, you will have:
Excellent problem-solving skills.
