What you will do as the Lead Data Analyst :
Use large datasets of confidential administrative microdata (e.g. BLADE / PLIDA) to address research questions relevant to ACCC work. Work with investigation and/or project teams to define business problems, and to translate those problems into questions that can be answered with data. Scope and acquire data from internal and external sources, including by liaising with data providers and by providing input into the use of the agency's statutory information-gathering powers. Apply a broad range of analytical, business intelligence, and statistical and machine learning techniques to build repeatable solutions or derive accurate and relevant insights, to meet a wide variety of complex use cases. Communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences. Develop and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including data specialists in counterpart agencies. Lead, develop and mentor junior data specialists and contribute to capability-building initiatives to improve the agency's use of data. About you :
In order to succeed in the role, you will have :
Excellent problem-solving skills. A highly developed ability to define business problems, and to derive accurate and relevant insights from a broad range of data to meet a wide variety of complex use cases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to a variety of audiences. A highly developed ability to contribute expertise to multidisciplinary teams, and to develop and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. A highly developed ability to manage a demanding workload across multiple projects with competing deadlines, and to manage and contribute to capability-building initiatives. A demonstrated ability to manage, develop and mentor junior team members. Experience managing other data specialists is highly desirable. Expertise in a broad range of data acquisition, processing, analysis and visualisation techniques, including demonstrated expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g. R, Python, Stata) and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining currency of that expertise. Salary : $119,173 - $131,888 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
