At the ACCC, we believe the best version of you is the one that's true to who you are – and that's the you we want working alongside us.We value flexibility, and all roles can be performed from any capital city in a state or territory or Townsville and are available on a full-time, part-time, or job-share basis.Applicants from diverse backgrounds including First Nations peoples, people with disability, and those from different cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.What you will do as the Lead Data AnalystUse large datasets of confidential administrative microdata (e.g., BLADE/PLIDA) to address research questions relevant to ACCC work.Work within investigation and/or project teams to define business problems, and to translate those problems into questions that can be answered with data.Scope and acquire data from internal and external sources, including by liaising with data providers and by providing input into the use of the agency's statutory information-gathering powers.Apply a broad range of analytical, business intelligence, and statistical and machine learning techniques to build repeatable solutions to derive accurate and relevant insights, to meet a wide variety of complex use cases.Communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.Develop and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including data specialists in counterpart agencies.Lead, develop, and mentor junior data specialists and contribute to capability-building initiatives to improve the agency's use of data.About youIn order to succeed in the role, you will have:Excellent problem-solving skills.
A highly developed ability to define business problems, and to derive accurate and relevant insights from a broad range of data to meet a wide variety of complex use cases.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to a variety of audiences.A highly developed ability to contribute expertise to multidisciplinary teams, and to develop and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.A highly developed ability to manage a demanding workload across multiple projects with competing deadlines, and to manage and contribute to capability-building initiatives.A demonstrated ability to manage, develop and mentor junior team members.
