Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is looking for dedicated Lawyers to join our Regional Office in Ringwood and advocate for our clients' rights. In this role, you'll provide duty lawyer services, casework, and advice primarily in criminal law and family violence, ensuring our clients receive the support and representation they need. You'll have opportunities to advocate in various courts and tribunals, including the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and Children's Court, effectively representing legal aid clients.
We have three full time opportunities available (part time considered):
1x ongoing position.1x fixed term position up to February 2025.1x fixed term position up to June 2025.About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Ability to advocate effectively in various courts and tribunals, including the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and Children's Court.Comprehensive knowledge and experience in criminal law, family violence, and child protection matters.Ability to conduct thorough casework and provide accurate legal information and advice to clients, including those in custody.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.Experience in delivering legal information and advice through different mediums such as appointments, phone, teleconference, and outreach services.A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory)Don't meet every requirement?
