About the Role

Working closely with the Partners, the position, which would suit a Lawyer or Senior Associate, involves providing insurance and government clients with relevant legal advice regarding complex casualty and liability matters.

Responsibilities
Liaising with clients
Reviewing medical and other expert material
Liaising with witnesses and preparing statements
Researching and providing legal analysis
Preparing and reviewing discovered documents and evidence
Drafting court documents, settlement deeds and Medical Panel referrals
Engaging and liaising with independent experts, counsel, opposing lawyers and mediators
Preparing advice including on liability, prospects, quantum, reserves and strategy
Appearing at court, conferences and mediations
Preparing briefs and instructing counsel during court hearings, mediations and conferences
Working in partnership with senior practitioners and other team members
Delegating work and providing instructions to lawyers, paralegals and administrative support
Mentoring and coaching lawyers to assist with their development
Assisting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
Retaining and building business
About You
Suitable candidates will bring strong litigation experience preferably in personal injury insurance
A current practising certificate for Victoria
4-8 years PAE
Training and experience gained in a mid or top tier law firm
You are self-driven, have excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills
You can manage competing priorities effectively
Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholders
You pride yourself on being a team player who is professional, client focused and supportive of your colleagues
Underpinning your drive for excellence is a desire to achieve quality outcomes in commercial litigation claims.
