Our Role Our Pro Bono practice focuses on working with First Nations peoples, assisting victims and survivors of family and domestic violence and tackling legal issues raised by environmental disasters.
Our pro bono team is seeking a law clerk/legal assistant 3 days a week, based in our Brisbane office, to provide administrative assistance to the team and the broader firm to deliver the framework for an authentic and impactful pro bono program.
Candidates who identify with our pro bono priority areas (i.e.
either identify as First Nations people or have lived experience of environmental disasters or family and domestic violence) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Candidates with experience in the community legal sector are also encouraged to apply.
Your key responsibilities will include: file management – opening/closing files and filing; diary management; monthly billing and reporting; managing our pro bono case flow; assisting with pro bono clinics, referrals, applications, approvals, reporting and events; general administrative tasks and secretarial support; and legal research.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, have terrific attention to detail and be willing to form part of a social but hard-working environment.
In this role, you will: have the ability to manage the demands of a busy role including high levels of organisation and efficiency, with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure; be proactive and able to work unsupervised at times; have excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage conflicting priorities; possess intermediate-advanced computer skills across the Microsoft Office suite; have the capability to consistently meet deadlines with conflicting priorities; pride yourself on your high attention to detail, with strong written communication skills; including excellent interpersonal and organisational skills; and, have some exposure of using document management and billing/time recording systems background in a legal practice group is desirable, but not essential.
