Financial Accountant Temporary - Part Time We are seeking a talented and dedicated Financial Accountant to join our Financial Operations team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the reporting, maintenance, and integrity of our finance and accounting functions. You will play a pivotal role in meeting Council's external reporting obligations, supporting internal financial management needs, and overseeing the management of Council's insurance functions.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day financial and accounting functions, including fixed assets, cash and investments, loans, grants, taxation obligations, and accounts payable. Supervise, mentor, and develop Financial Operations staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Maintain and apply comprehensive knowledge of legislative, statutory, and accounting requirements to ensure Council's compliance and financial integrity. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and statutory reports, collaborating with external auditors as needed. Provide expert accounting and financial advice to both internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications: You will hold a degree in accounting, commerce, or a related field, with a solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and the ability to apply them. Your expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and accounting practices will be essential to your success in this role.
You will have experience leading a team and will be able to guide and support colleagues while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment. In addition to your technical skills, you are approachable, and personable, which will help you build strong relationships both within the team and with other internal stakeholders.
As a high-level communicator, you'll be able to simplify complex financial information and explain it clearly to a range of audiences. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of working autonomously when needed but also contributing to team efforts when collaboration is key. Your attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills will be key to handling the varied tasks and responsibilities of the role.
