We are seeking qualified, skilled, and experienced design experts to help shape the future of Lake Macquarie City.
Expressions of interest are now open to represent Lake Macquarie City Council on the Lake Macquarie City Council Design Review Panel in the following fields:
ArchitectureLandscape architectureWe are seeking expressions of interest from nominees for three fixed members, and alternate/specialist members.
The Design Review Panel (DRP) is a panel of expert and independent design professionals who review residential apartment developments and give advice to the Council on the design quality.
The role of the panel is to provide expert advice to proponents and Council, helping to ensure high-quality residential apartment developments in the city and supporting smooth and efficient assessment processes.
The panel meets monthly.
Meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at Council's Administration Building.
Hybrid meetings can be accommodated.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE The DRP consists of a minimum of three expert members, including a chair.
A pool of alternate and specialist members is also available.
All panel members must be qualified in at least one of the following fields:
ArchitectureLandscape architectureWe are seeking qualified, skilled, and experienced experts who can assess residential apartment developments based on the design principles for residential projects and the Apartment Design Guide.
Knowledge and experience in designing projects within the city are desirable.
Employees of Council are not eligible to be on the panel.
The panel appointment will be for a term of three years, commencing March 2025.
Panel members must hold and maintain the following insurance policies for the period of their engagement:
Professional indemnity in the amount of $5MPublic liability in the amount of $20MWHAT IS INVOLVED IN BEING ON THE PANEL? If appointed to a meeting, panel members will be required to review the documentation provided to them by Council and be prepared to provide advice to Council and the proponent at the meeting.
Members must also participate in the preparation of the panel's written advice to be provided to Council and will be required to undertake site inspections, typically undertaken with Council staff on the day of the panel meeting.
Members are paid for attending each meeting, which includes any time spent preparing, writing written responses, and attending site inspections.
