About the role
Are you looking for the next step in your Medical Scientist career?This opportunity will give an experienced Senior Medical Scientist the opportunity to step into a management position of a small Multidisciplinary Laboratory in Newcastle, NSW.
The laboratory is NATA accredited for Biochemistry and Haematology/Coags. No Blood Banking. This laboratory provides laboratory services to the local community plus one private local hospital.
The hours of laboratory operations are:
Monday to Friday: 8am to 9.30pm
Saturday 8am to 4pm
No Sundays, No On-Calls, No Overnight shifts!Your will be responsible for managing a team of experienced Scientific and Technical Officers (4) and Laboratory Assistants (4) to perform a range of laboratory tests within a multi-disciplinary setting:
Prioritise work- flow to meet client's requirementsHands on role where bench work and assisting the workflow will be neededEnsure results are released with acceptable turn around times (TAT)Liaise with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal resultsEnsure all laboratory equipment is maintained in optimal condition and working order, all scheduled routine maintenance is performed and any unscheduled maintenance is performed as requiredQuality compliance management / NATA auditWork and Health and Safety assessment.Management of the annual operating plan and financial budgets.About you
To be considered for this role your skills and attributes should include:
Tertiary Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or overseas equivalent.Must be an AIMS accreditation Medical Scientist At least 3 years Medical Laboratory Scientist experience in a multi-disciplinary environment. Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnershipsAbility to influence to negotiate outcomesExperience in working under tight deadlines to meet day to day targets, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timelineResults orientated and a proactive and effective problem solverProven skills in defining, prioritising and organising competing tasks to meet deadlinesAbility to demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity at all timesExperienced Medical Scientists with previous laboratory supervisory experience that are on regional permanent residency visas and those on temporary residency visa, 485 are eligible to apply. In this instance you must be AIMS accredited to work as a 'Medical Laboratory Scientist' in Australia.
