Job Summary: Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Collects nasal and throat swabs from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays. Orders lab tests in the computer with Medical Necessity. Receives laboratory specimens. Checks orders for accuracy. Faxes results and answers phones.

Certification/Licensure: BLS.
Experience Requirements: Paramedical training preferred.

All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks.
