Job DescriptionKalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Child, Youth and Family Support Services division.
The Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Support Services division administers the Family Wellbeing Service, Family Participation Program, Early Learning Program and the Kinship and Foster Care programs within the South East Qld region.
* This is an identified position, applicants must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person * About the RoleThe Kinship and Foster Care Officer, with the support of the Program Manager (Kinship and Foster Care), works to provide a culturally appropriate service to clients of the program with the Department of Child Safety, ensuring that placements meet the Statement of Standards - s122(1) of the Child Protection Act.
This role includes recruiting and assessing local carers, providing training, ongoing support of carers with learning plans and respite, coordinating short term emergency placements, and ensuring that efficient and effective administration systems are managed and maintained within the program.
This role is full time, Monday to Friday, and based at Burleigh.
Position Duties Local level recruitment of carers;Co-delivery (with Child Safety) of pre service training, and ongoing training of carers;Assessment/reassessment of carers prior to Child Safety approval and re-approval;Identifying carers that best meet the needs of children and young people referred by Child Safety;Ongoing support of carers, including learning plans, access to respite, and after hours support;Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;Relevant tertiary qualifications applicable to the role;Experience working with the community sector and in a range of partnerships;Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of groups and people and gain cooperation and assistance from others;A high level of communication skills including oral, written and computer based and including spreadsheets, email, internet, digital media etc.What we offerKalwun values the contributions of all staff and is committed to providing an inclusive workplace where all staff feel accepted, included and welcomed.

The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement;As this is a risk-assessed role under the Child Protection Act 1999, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a LCS2 clearance within 3 months of commencing employment;*IDENTIFIED POSITION - To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
