Janome Sewing Centre is seeking an experienced and skilled Sewing Machine Mechanic to join our team. As a Sewing Machine Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of sewing machines to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues with sewing machines, overlockers, embroidery machines, and more. Repair and replace defective parts, including motors, belts, boards, gears, and needles. Act as the initial escalation point for related work items. Work alongside other technicians for repairs to ensure safety and quality. Perform routine maintenance on sewing machines to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. Test repaired machines to ensure they meet quality standards and are functioning properly. Provide technical support and assistance to customers and staff regarding sewing machine maintenance and repair. Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities. Requirements: Proven experience as a Sewing Machine Mechanic or similar role. Experience repairing and servicing Janome, Elna, and Bernina machines is desired but not required. Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills. Knowledge of different types of sewing machines and their components. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Ability to lift sewing machines for short periods (up to 14 kgs), for short distances. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently. Brand Certification or training in sewing machine repair is a plus. A Restricted Electrical Licence (REL) is desired but not required. If you do not have a REL, we will offer training and support your pathway to acquire your licence.
