The JuniorResearch Assistant will be responsible for supporting laboratory staff andstudents of the Developmental and Cancer Biology laboratory in undertaking wet laboratoryexperiments using relevant cell and animal models of childhood solid cancers.
The JuniorResearch Assistant willreport to the Developmental and Cancer Biology laboratory Head, A/Prof JasonCain, and maintain close working relationships with the Developmental andCancer Biology team.
SELECTION CRITERIA The role will suit someone who is: Interested in cancer biology Willing to work with animalmodels of disease An ethical andcompliance-oriented thinker with sound judgement Highly collaborative and teamorientated Capable of problem-solving andindependent thinking Able to effectively interpret andcommunicate findings Organised and has excellentdocumentation skills A relevant tertiary degree and experiencein laboratory research. Experience with mouse models ofdisease (preferred but not essential) Your responsibilities include: Setupand perform routine experiments according to documented protocols Preparecell and tissue specimens Workwith cell and mouse preclinical cancer models Developand optimise new techniques to the laboratory according to criteria specifiedby others Ordersupplies and monitor and manage supply levels Standarduse of general laboratory equipment EMPLOYMENT TERMS This position is a fixed term contract role in a Full time (1.0 FTE) capacity.Salary is based on Research Support Group, RES X level dependent on experience.Superannuation of 11% and very attractive salary packaging options areavailable.
