The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating underground mines producing zinc, copper, and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré. It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus, and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain, boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
To support our vision of continued growth and ongoing operation of our Rosebery Mine, MMG has several exciting opportunities available for experienced underground Mining Operators who have significant experience operating a Jumbo.
Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, successful candidates will be responsible for drilling, bolting, and installation of ground support using a Jumbo Machine and utilising their skills for the reinforcement of robust mining processes and practices.
On a shift-to-shift basis, you will be responsible for:
Operating boom to scale face, drill holes for ground support.Bolt, mesh, and bore multiple headings per shift.Decline, incline, and level development.Installing ground support as per standard and requirements.Reading and interpreting mining instructions.Keeping accurate records of activities in accordance with established standards.Directing and coordinating Jumbo Offsider/Nipper to maximise production in a safe and efficient manner.Qualifications, Competencies & Skills Extensive knowledge of underground mining equipment and techniques.An unwavering commitment to safe work practices.A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values.Strong communication skills.A willingness to partake in Pre-Employment Medical and D&A Screen.A willingness to partake in Pre-Employment Background checks.Previous underground mining experience is essential.What We Offer A safety-first culture.A workplace that fosters diversity and inclusiveness and supports our people with the systems, skills, and behaviours required to live our values.As a company, MMG strives for the best in safety, environmental protection, production standards, and overall operational excellence.
