Job DescriptionWe are looking for a journalist to join the Nine Radio Sydney newsroom.
You will research, write, edit and present news bulletins.Please submit a demo with your application too!Edit and present accurate, informative and interesting news bulletins.
Present live, timed-out bulletins as well as recorded bulletins.
Generate ideas for stories, and follow leads from contacts, politicians, the public, media conferences and other sources.Research and write radio news stories.
Conduct interviews with a variety of newsmakers.
Exercise editorial judgement on the best angle from which to approach a story.
Meet hourly and half hourly deadlines.
Understand and comply with media law and industry codes of conduct and regulations, as well as completing necessary training and accreditation.
Take direction from the Sydney News Director as well as shift editors.QualificationsProven experience editing and presenting radio news bulletins.
Experience in journalism and expertise in news gathering, writing and presenting for radio.
Able to meet hourly and half-hourly deadlines under pressure.
Ability to deal effectively with simultaneous tasks.
Knowledge of local, national and international issues, newsmakers and organisations High level communication and interpersonal skills.
On-line research, word processing, audio editing and social media skills.
Ability to work in a team and independently, and to take feedback and direction.
Adherence to high ethical standards.
Valid Driver's License (Class C - car).
Degree qualified in journalism is desirable.
