Our casual roles involve diverse teaching and support activities across various disciplines, following best practices and guidelines.
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about education who wish to share their expertise flexibly.
Our innovative Landscape Architecture discipline RMIT Landscape Architecture invites expressions of interest in the Bachelor of Landscape Architectural Design (BLAD) (3-year), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) (2 year, accredited), RMIT Landscape Architecture upholds a legacy of embracing emerging ideas and actively reshaping its focus to align with contemporary thought, discourse, and global concerns.
Since its inception, the discipline has distinguished itself as engaged and responsive.
In recent years, RMIT Landscape Architecture has critically engaged with adaptive and emergent phenomena, finding ways for landscape architects to work with uncertain future conditions brought on by climate change.
Engaging with design research—design as a way of knowing—continues to inform the curriculum of both the BLAD and MLA programmes.
The discipline continues to actively advocate for diverse, novel applications of landscape architecture and engage with industry and community beyond the academy.
RMIT Landscape Architecture critically explores landscape as a medium that exists at all scales, from micro to macro, from garden to city, from political to infrastructural, from social to economic; and as a medium specific to site, time, and process.
The BLAD and MLA programs engage students profoundly with the discipline of landscape architecture, as one that can respond to the challenges of a complex, rapidly changing world through innovative forms of design.
Course content instils students with the tools for independent thought and the ability to question and act - developing critical and creative exploration and enabling students to develop the skills to become leaders and innovators in landscape architectural practice.
The tradition of outreach within the program is bolstered by the AUD model of integrated scholarship in which academic staff and students collaborate with industry, community and government to respond to speculative or real-world issues.
Design studios and core courses use a combination of creative exploration, critical thinking and engagement with real-world settings to expand possibilities for the discipline.
Outreach and advocacy are also evident through the annually published Kerb Journal of Landscape Architecture, a student-led journal that has maintained a critical and creative commentary on landscape architecture since 1994 While this is a competitive process and we typically get significantly more applications than there will be places, we also invite new voices to join the conversation.
We invite expressions of interest to join the RMIT Landscape Architecture academic staff in delivering design studios and core curriculum.
This may be for Semester 1 and Semester 2 of 2025.
Important: Appointment requires relevant qualifications or industry equivalency, and candidates must pass a Working with Children check.
