About the Role | He korero mo te turanga As part of our team, you'll split your time between taking our manuhiri (visitors) on thrilling jet boat rides through breathtaking landscapes and ensuring our boats and equipment are always in top-notch condition. We're looking for someone who's passionate about adventure, loves working with people, and is keen to be a kaitiaki (guardian) of the natural beauty and cultural stories of this region.
Jet Boat Driver | Te Kaihautu Waka
Take manuhiri on unforgettable jet boat trips, ensuring they're safe, entertained, and leave with a huge smile on their face.
Follow all safety and operational guidelines—keeping everyone safe is our top priority.
Check and maintain the boats every day to make sure they're in perfect running order.
Work closely with the team to make good weather and safety calls so everyone has a great experience.
Complete our thorough driver training programme to set you up for success.
Maintenance & Operational Support | Te Kaitiaki Waka me nga Taonga
Help maintain and service the boats and vehicles, keeping them looking sharp and running smoothly.
Assist with all sorts of tasks, from guiding wilderness tours to keeping the workshop and buildings in top condition.
Support our operational and maintenance plans, ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
Pitch in with general customer service, helping to give every visitor the best possible experience.
Cultural Confidence & Sustainability | Te Aroa ki te Taiao me te Tikanga
Take every opportunity to learn about and share Ngai Tahu culture and values with our visitors—it's at the heart of everything we do.
Lead a karakia before each trip, setting the tone and making sure our manuhiri feel connected to the land.
Help us protect our beautiful environment by encouraging manuhiri to take care of Aotearoa, just as we do.
Support Ngai Tahu Tourism's sustainability goals, including our journey to becoming carbon zero by 2040.
What We're Looking For | Nga pukenga kei a koe Experience: At least 2+ years in customer service, plus 5+ years of experience in a maintenance leadership role. Qualifications:
A qualification in engineering or automotive fields.
Outdoor adventure or education experience (bonus points!).
Full driver's license (Class 2 or P Endorsement would be awesome).
First Aid Certification. Skills:
Knowledge of high-performance engines and automotive systems.
Great teamwork, time management, and project management skills.
Enthusiastic to learn about Ngai Tahu values, tikanga, and te reo Maori.
Experience with maintenance management systems is a plus.
