About the Role  We are looking for a software project manager who oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects for Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to lifting education outcomes for all Australian students. They are responsible for managing the scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risks of software development projects that support GGSA's range of evidence-based curricula, professional learning modules, and school improvement tools. Some of the typical tasks are:
• Define the project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with GGSA's leadership, staff, and partner schools.
• Develop and maintain a detailed project plan that outlines the tasks, milestones, dependencies, resources, and timeline of the project.
• Coordinate and communicate with the project team, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure alignment and transparency.
• Monitor and track the project progress, performance, and issues using appropriate tools and metrics.
• Manage the project risks and issues and implement mitigation and contingency plans as needed.
• Ensure the project deliverables meet the quality standards and expectations of GGSA and its partner schools.
• Conduct project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify and document best practices and areas for improvement.
The software project manager will be expected to:
• Have extensive experience and expertise in  .NET development, including languages, frameworks, plugins, APIs, etc.
• Lead and manage the .NET development teams, consisting of 5 and 3 developers respectively, and ensure their productivity, performance, and collaboration.
• Follow and enforce the educational and professional standards and best practices in the software development process, such as coding, testing, documentation, security, etc.
• Report and communicate the key performance indicators and success criteria of the software projects to GGSA and its partner schools, such as user satisfaction, engagement, learning outcomes, etc.
Essential Criteria
• A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• A solid understanding of software development methodologies, such as agile, waterfall, or hybrid.
• A strong knowledge of software development tools, such as project management software, code editors, testing tools, version control systems, and collaboration platforms.
• A proven track record of successfully managing and delivering software projects of various sizes and complexities, preferably in the education sector.
• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• A high level of attention to detail, organisation, and time management.
• A passion for improving education outcomes for all Australian students, especially those in remote and very remote areas and those with significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student enrolments.
In addition, the software project manager will be responsible for leading one specific software project for GGSA:
• An internal app and tools built on .NET that facilitate GGSA's operations, data analysis, and reporting functions.
Desirable criteria  Evidence of a current valid manual drivers licence;Possess a Blue Card (or if successful provide evidence of obtaining/applying prior to commencement);Registration with a recognised national project management affiliation;Understanding of the political and legal framework in which the organisation operates;
