About the RoleThe IROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) at BHP are expanding and are looking for new team members to join their growing team. As a remote operations Mine Controller, you will be optimising our truck fleet in central Queensland from the heart of the Brisbane CBD. Being part of the Mine Control team, you will work together with our onsite operations teams and liaise with other controllers to optimise production at our operations and across the coal value chain.
You will work in an environment which is dynamic and striving to continuously improve performance, and with this, you will be involved in continuous improvement projects to help us become even better!
In this role you will: Deliver the production schedule in accordance with the plan (with operational teams)Develop and foster positive relationships with our site operations, including travel to our mine sitesMonitor compliance with control operational benchmarks and reduce varianceCollaborate across teams to implement improvement initiativesGain exposure to the whole coal supply chain, working with our other IROC teams to optimise interfacesBe part of our cutting edge machine learning programs to improve CHPP quality managementManage and optimise our Truck fleet to support and improve safety, production and cost outcomes for the businessWork in the heart of the Brisbane CBD on an even time, rotating day & night 12.5 hour shift rosterExperience a long term career with goals and career changing opportunitiesWe have current vacancies across multiple teams, with permanent and fixed term roles available.
About youAs part of a team of IROC Controllers you will be responsible to work with our site based mining teams to optimise safe production against the operational plan. This will involve monitoring operational performance, applying defined shift processes and identifying variance from plan within shift. Your role is then to reduce variance from plan through feedback and short interval control and implement improvement initiatives. This work will test your ability to learn the agreed work processes, use operational control systems effectively and apply these skills to both control activity. We will be looking for your ability to both, work within the shift to optimise performance, and to think more broadly to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
The successful candidate will display all of the key capabilities of a successful controller – a commitment to personal and team safety, calm disposition under pressure, an enthusiasm to learn, full of initiative and a drive for performance. Previous control experience within a mining environment will be highly regarded.
You will be a motivated individual who can use their relationship building and negotiation skills in order to influence others and achieve desired outcomes.Have a proven track record of applying work processes in a disciplined way to deliver results and respond to changes accordingly.Have the capacity and ability to work 12.5hr rostered shift work patterns involving nightshift and weekend work, and travel to site if necessary.Your core accountabilities will include but not limited to:
