Investment Director -Private Equity

Our client is a successful mid-market Private Equity firm, investing in Australian businesses across a wide variety of sectors. The firm has accumulated an impressive stable of founder led businesses, and is looking to hire an Investment Director as the firm enters its next phase of growth.

As the Investment Director, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and originating new investment opportunities as well as executing and structuring deals across the mid-market space. Your primary responsibility will be to build and manage a strong deal pipeline by establishing relationships with business owners, intermediaries, and other key stakeholders in the mid-market space. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, market knowledge, and deal-making expertise.
Key Responsibilities: Deal Origination: Lead efforts to identify potential acquisition targets by developing relationships with business owners, investment banks, brokers, and other key market participants.Due Diligence: Collaborate with internal teams to assess potential investments, including evaluating financial performance, business models, and management capabilities.Market Research: Stay on top of market trends, competitive landscapes, and sector-specific opportunities within the lower mid-market.Relationship Building: Develop and maintain a robust network of deal sources, including intermediaries, management teams, and industry experts.Deal Structuring: Lead the structuring of complex private equity transactions, including debt and equity financing, acquisition strategies, and negotiation of terms, ensuring alignment with investment goals and maximizing value for stakeholders.Portfolio Growth: Work closely with portfolio companies post-acquisition to help drive strategic initiatives and value creation.Collaboration: Partner with the firm's senior leadership to refine origination strategies and contribute to broader firm growth.Qualifications: A minimum of 8 years of experience in private equity or direct investment, ideally with a background in investment banking, corporate finance, or management consulting.Prior experience in deal origination is preferable.Strong financial acumen, including experience in analyzing financial statements and business models.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships at all levels.Self-motivated, with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply. Salary: AUD180,000 - AUD220,000 per annum + Bonus.
