The Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC) is an independent statutory officer whose role is established under the Health Complaints Act 2016. HCC staff are employees of the Department of Health, (the Department) who report directly or indirectly to the Commissioner. The HCC supports safe and ethical healthcare in Victoria by resolving complaints about health services and conducting investigations into healthcare providers who pose a serious risk to the health, safety or welfare of the public. About the role: The Investigations Compliance Officer is part of a team reporting to the Manager, Investigations and will be responsible for monitoring health service providers compliance with Interim Prohibition Orders (IPOs) and/or Prohibition Orders (POs), and the implementation of Recommendations by providers arising from investigations. This will include conducting compliance checks to identify non-compliance, investigating and obtaining evidence of non-compliance and recommending action in accordance with relevant policies and procedures and the Health Complaints Act 2016. How you'll make a difference: Conduct compliance activities and investigation into potential and actual breaches of Orders and recommendations, in accordance with best practice investigation processes and administrative law principles. Working closely with the Manager, Investigations you will: Prepare and implement compliance monitoring plans for health service providers subject to Interim Prohibition Orders and Prohibition Orders (Orders) in accordance with relevant policy and procedures. Manage and monitor health service providers' response to and compliance with Recommendations following an approved Investigation Report in accordance with relevant policy and procedures. Identify areas of actual and/or potential risk for health service providers' non-compliance with orders to ensure effective protection of the public, undertaking appropriate risk management strategies when necessary. Liaise with health service providers to assist them in meeting their compliance obligations and to respond to their queries. If required, meet with health service providers and/or third parties to establish and ensure compliance with IPOs, POs, and Recommendations.
