As the Interpretation and Placemaking Lead, you'll work closely with Botanic Gardens of Sydney's science, horticulture and First Nations teams to tell the stories of plants, people and place through carefully crafted signage, immersive exhibitions and placemaking elements.
Each of our garden sites has a unique cultural history, setting and living collection, and are the sites of innovative scientific and horticultural endeavour — offering you the chance to celebrate very different cultural connections, botanical collections, environments, plant research and conservation actions.
Collaborating with internal and external knowledge-holders and creatives, you'll lead multidisciplinary projects that bring the Gardens to life through innovative, accurate and culturally respectful storytelling.
Managing project resources and timelines, you'll ensure the delivery of experiences that reflect the Gardens' vital conservation work, rich cultural heritage and scientific integrity while deepening the connection between our visitors and these remarkable places.
What you will bring to the role Deep understanding of issues and trends relevant to interpretation and placemaking in cultural, scientific and environmental settings.Experience in authentic engagement and consultation with First Nations peoples, knowledge-holders and experts to ensure best-practice ICIP and scientific accuracy.Creative thinker, adept at distilling complex ideas into engaging stories and meaningful experiences that resonate with visitors and inspire them to connect deeply with the natural world.Strong project management abilities, including managing timelines, budgets, deadlines, and contractors, ensuring seamless execution of multi-faceted projects.What is an essential requirement: Current Australian driver's licence and the ability to travel.About us
