Governance and Property Officer Immediate Start | Accommodation Varied and Interesting Role| 3 - 6 Month Contract $96K- $100K pro rata + Super + Locality Allowance Are you an experienced professional ready to make an immediate impact in local government?
Burdekin Shire Council is seeking a skilled Governance and Property Officer for a temporary role, offering a unique opportunity to apply your expertise over a 3 to 6-month period, with accommodation provided.
About the Role Council's Property team have an exciting opportunity for a Property Officer to join on an i nterim basis.
If you have a local government property background with experience in leasing, strong research and administrative skills, a sound understanding of legal, legislative and statutory requirements this exciting opportunity might be just the ticket.
As the Governance and Property Officer, you will support Council's property, insurance and governance operations.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Community Services, you will: Coordinate leases and land matters, including acquisitions and disposals.
Manage Council's insurance portfolio, including claims processing.
Assist with special projects and liaise with government departments, as they arise.
Draft policies, reports and correspondence arising from Council meetings.
Create procedures, policies and work instructions for use by the wider team.
About You To excel in this role, you will have the ability to work autonomously and have considerable experience in a local government setting, to enable you to hit the ground running.
In addition you will have: Administration, project coordination, problem-solving and drafting high-quality documents.
Experience working with the Local Government Act 2009, Land Act 1994 and related legislation.
Proficient in lease management, general insurance processes or public sector governance.
Strong organisational and time-management and ability to work independently.
A professional, discreet approach to handling confidential or sensitive information.
Essential Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent public sector experience.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Current Queensland "CA" class driver's license.
