The Role We are seeking a seasoned Senior Vice President of Public Relations to lead our agency's efforts in servicing clients within the environmental and sustainability sectors. As VP, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans that effectively promote our clients' initiatives, products, and messages related to environmental conservation, sustainability practices, and corporate social responsibility. You will lead a team of talented PR professionals, fostering creativity, innovation, and excellence in client service.
Responsibilities: Business Development: Opportunity to build your own team within an established PR agency. Generate new business leads and draft pitches for potential financial services clients in order to grow the practice and the financial services team. Leverage existing network of business contacts for new business development. Attend networking events and industry conferences to prospect for new business. Grow network of business contacts. Focus 50% of the job on client service and media relations as well as 50% on new business opportunities in the financial services space. Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive PR strategies aligned with clients' environmental and sustainability goals. Collaborate with clients to understand their unique challenges, objectives, and target audiences. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging issues in environmental and sustainability sectors. Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, building strong relationships based on trust and expertise. Provide strategic counsel to clients on communication opportunities, crisis management, and reputation enhancement. Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, timely deliverables, and measurable results. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of PR professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence. Delegate tasks effectively, balancing workload and resources to meet client expectations and agency goals. Provide guidance on media relations, content development, social media strategy, and campaign execution. Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and industry stakeholders. Secure media coverage in top-tier outlets, leveraging compelling narratives and data-driven insights. Monitor media coverage and industry trends, identifying opportunities for client visibility and thought leadership. Content Creation: Oversee the development of high-quality written and visual content, including press releases, articles, blogs, and social media posts. Ensure messaging consistency across all communication channels, reinforcing clients' brand identity and values. Collaborate with creative teams to produce multimedia assets, such as videos, infographics, and interactive experiences. Performance Measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the success of PR campaigns. Analyze data and insights to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics. Prepare regular reports for clients and agency leadership, highlighting achievements, trends, and areas for improvement. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Environmental Studies, or related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 10+ years of experience in public relations, with a focus on environmental, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility sectors. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful PR campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and impact. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced agency environment. Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, presenting, and networking. Deep understanding of media relations, crisis management, and digital marketing strategies. Strategic thinker with a passion for environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives. Ability to thrive under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and adapt to changing priorities.
