The Waikato District Intelligence Unit supports Police leaders and officers to prevent crime and harm.
Intelligence is used to inform prioritised deployment of resources, understand the criminal/demand environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action.

We are looking to recruit an Intelligence Analyst to join our team based in Hamilton CBD.
This position would suit a systematic analytical thinker wanting to work in a dynamic operational environment and support the intelligence capability across the team.

It would be preferable, but not essential, if you bring to the position, skills including statistical analysis; ArcGIS (general proficiency with mapping techniques); Crime Science, and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will use analytic tools and methodology to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues aligned to NZ Police 'Our Business'.
You will communicate this through reporting and effective relationships with clients of intelligence.
You will have a sound understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
You will work closely with others in the team applying best practice intelligence tradecraft to support team development and maintain a positive and productive team culture.

You will develop and maintain your understanding and service delivery of NZ Police Intelligence to support policing outcomes for the Waikato district.

New Zealand or Australian citizenship, or a permanent New Zealand resident Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment Hold a full driver license or be able to complete early in employment This role is set at Individual Contributor level , this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".

Security Clearance Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a SECRET national security clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or: A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years : Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
