The positionWe are seeking an Instrumental Music Specialist – Bassoon to join our Music community in a casual role commencing January 2025.
Over 600 students take part in weekly instrumental music lessons and 30 bands, choirs, orchestras, instrumental ensembles and chamber groups are available for students to participate in. The Music community at Loreto Toorak is a wonderful place for our students to thrive.
Our Instrumental Music Specialists are responsible for managing their individual programs (aligning with the broader department), monitoring student progress, and fostering a vibrant musical environment within the school. Their primary objective is to enable each student to engage fully in the musical life of the School, maximising their potential. The role reports directly to the Head of Department. Rate of pay will be in accordance with VMTA rates and employment is on a casual basis.
About YouThe ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a comprehensive mastery of the bassoon. You will have expert knowledge of VCE and AMEB syllabi coupled with experience in teaching in Classroom Band programs and a desire to be engaged in the school's high profile ensemble program.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in music with other accreditations relevant to the role will be highly regarded. A VIT registration is desirable. A WWCC is required if not VIT registered.
Experience in planning lessons, organising practice schedules, and managing learning activities efficiently will be essential as will your experience in assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to encourage improvement and a love for music.
