The RoleWe are looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef to join our catering team and support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our employees and clients.This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Melbourne CBD office. Ordinary working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm; however, some flexibility to work evenings or weekends may be required on occasion.The Sous Chef will work closely with our Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that our dining and catering services are executed to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role that will involve cooking, menu planning, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation of food for:Client functions and eventsStaff events, including morning and afternoon teasWorking lunchesOur on-site caféAssist in the preparation of menus for all meals and catered eventsMentor and train kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient food productionEnsure food is prepared and presented according to company standards, while maintaining consistency and qualityOversee kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and compliance with Victorian health and safety regulationsMonitor and maintain kitchen equipment, inventory, and stock levelsManage food waste and maintain cost-effective operationsAssist with online ordering, invoicing, and pricingStep in for the Head Chef when required, ensuring seamless kitchen operationsSkills & ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have:Relevant hospitality/culinary qualification5 years full-time employment experience in a fine dining, corporate, or hotel kitchen environmentPassion for producing high quality, well-presented foodStrong knowledge of day-to-day kitchen operations (including invoicing) and unwavering adherence to food safety, hygiene, and allergen protocolsStrong work ethic and an ability to remain calm under pressureExcellent teamwork skillsStrong attention to detailExcellent writing and oral communication skillsAbout UsWe are one of Australia's oldest and largest independent law firms, with offices in six cities and over 1700 employees.
