The Local Government Inspectorate is seeking an Inspector of Municipal Administration (Investigator) to provide a critical role within its team.
About the Role As an Inspector of Municipal Administration, you will participate in the key functions of the Inspectorate, including the assessment of complaints, conducting initial action enquiries and subsequent investigations. This includes making enquiries with councils, complainants, and witnesses, documenting all actions and activity as well as writing reports and briefs.
The role also includes assisting in the development and delivery of proactive governance examinations of councils and assisting in broader reviews of systemic issues across the local government sector.
Assessment and investigation functions must be conducted in an effective, efficient, fair and timely manner to ensure the integrity and transparency of local government in Victoria.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to use innovative thinking and analytical skills to gather, collate, analyse and respond to information.Investigation and Examination Skills: Ability to conduct investigations and examinations under direction within tight timeframes and in a sensitive environment.Report and Brief Preparation: Ability to compile and support the preparation of evidence-based reports and briefs of varying complexity, in consideration of legislation, criminal procedures and rules of evidence. Clear and concise written communication skills are highly regarded.Knowledge of Legislation: Demonstrated understanding of the Act or experience of assessing information in accordance with regulatory Acts.Qualifications Current Victorian Drivers Licence;Some out of hours work will be required including overnight travel to regional Victoria;An appropriate tertiary qualification in the field of law or commerce or related discipline or investigatory experience is highly desirable.How to Apply Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
