Commissioner Opportunity in NSW GovernmentInformation CommissionerWe are looking for a dedicated leader to work alongside the Privacy Commissioner to uphold and protect information rights in NSW.The Information Commissioner is an independent statutory office holder appointed under the Government Information (Information Commissioner) Act 2009.
The Commissioner reports directly to the Parliament with oversight by the Joint Parliamentary Committee.The Information Commissioner's role is to promote public awareness and understanding of the right to access government information, as well as provide information, support, advice, assistance and training to agencies and the public.
The Information Commissioner is also the IPC's Chief Executive Officer.The ideal candidate will have:Leadership and management experience at a senior executive level, and demonstrated capacity to act with integritySound understanding of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009Substantial experience in complaint handling and/or dispute resolution functionsAbility to understand and respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by rapidly evolving technology and potential uses of data Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.Click here to access the Role Description.Remuneration: $366,335 per annum, plus superannuation.The Information Commissioner may be appointed for a fixed term of up to 5 years that may be renewed.
