About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Information and Privacy Officer to join our team at the NSW Government. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in managing all right to information requests and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage the end-to-end process for all right to information requests, including determining decisions under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and responding to orders for production.Provide expert advice, support, and guidance to staff on GIPA legislative responsibilities and requirements.Fulfill the role of designated Privacy Officer for the organization and establish a robust privacy management system to ensure compliance.Conduct investigations into complaints about potential privacy breaches and make findings and recommendations.Support privacy internal reviews in accordance with the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.Develop and maintain resources for internal and external stakeholders about right to information requests and privacy.Provide education and training to all staff on right to information and privacy.Maintain transparent records of all work undertaken, ensuring accuracy and relevance of data, to assist in reporting and compliance requirements.Prepare annual privacy and GIPA reports and statistics to comply with reporting requirements.Coordinate reporting obligations regarding public interest disclosures.About YouWe are seeking motivated and committed individuals who have the following qualities:
