About the Business Unit Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand men and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain men in custody safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the men with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen prisoner pathways.
About the Role The Industry Operations Manager is responsible for the high level, day-to-day operational needs of the prison, in a changing environment, contributing to the ongoing strategic planning, implementation and improvement of prison industry operations.
The role will be responsible for managing a team of custodial industry officers delivering a range of correctional services for which the incumbent will require exceptional leadership skills.
As the Industry Operations Manager, some of your duties will include:
Leading, managing and maintaining a viable industry and employment program within the prison ensuring the safety and security of people in our care, visitors and staff.Being responsible for coaching and leading a team using LEAN principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.Collaborating with and providing input to Case Managers, Employment Pathways staff and other relevant roles and areas to support prisoners in their employment journey both pre and post release.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience and skill in areas relevant to commercial industry correctional legislation, program delivery and, or offender management.Demonstrated commitment to working with people in our care, staff and stakeholders in the delivery of an integrated approach to reducing re-offending.A strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices.Knowledge of risk management practices and their application in the Corrections setting.Highly proficient people management skills.How to Apply Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
