Would you like to join the Metro North Health team and contribute towards achieving health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people? Permanent full-time opportunity to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to the Indigenous Mental Health Intervention Program.
About the role This role supports the Indigenous Mental Health Intervention Program (IMHIP) in the delivery of social and emotional wellbeing and mental health support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients currently located in the Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre, Southern Queensland Women's Correctional Centre, and the Woodford Correctional Centre with the possibility of expansion in the future.
About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Provide clinical leadership and participate in the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality, service improvement and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of forensic intervention services, procedures, and protocols that support the continuum of care, improve patient care and contribute to the development of the multidisciplinary team.Practice in accordance with the code of ethics, professional standards, and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within the scope of the position.Demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge, experience, and clinical skills in the Indigenous Mental Health Intervention Program.Demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem-solving skills, and expert clinical judgment in relation to community forensic nursing.Health Equity It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognizing the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organizations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.
