The City of Burnside is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following appointment:
Independent Member – City of Burnside Audit and Risk Committee The Committee, which currently comprises three Independent Members (one of whom is the Presiding Member) and two Councillors, meets at least quarterly and is required to discharge statutory Audit and Risk Committee obligations under the Local Government Act 1999.
The Audit and Risk Committee is established under the legislation to assist the coordination of relevant activities of management, the internal audit function and the external auditor to facilitate achieving overall organisational objectives in an efficient and effective manner.
The primary objective of the Audit and Risk Committee is to assist Council in the effective conduct of its responsibilities for financial reporting, management of risk, governance and maintenance of a reliable system of internal controls.
Applications are now sought from suitably qualified individuals with recent and relevant financial, accounting, risk management, internal audit, legal and governance experience relevant to the functions of the Audit and Risk Committee and government.
Council is now recruiting for one Independent Member position to satisfy its obligations under the Terms of Reference and allow for an annual rotation of positions.
The position available will commence from approximately January 2025 for a three-year period.
Applicants must be individuals rather than corporations, as the service is that of a personal nature, based on the skill and experience of the individual relevant to the functions of Council's Audit and Risk Committee.
Independent Member roles will be selected by Council and are compensated for their time and expertise by payment of a sitting fee for each meeting attended.
The Independent Member Sitting Fee is currently $636.90 (Inc GST) and subject to CPI indexation from November 2024.
