Location ProfileMornington Special Developmental School is a Specialist School that caters for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities who reside on the Mornington Peninsula. The school is located beside Mornington Park Primary School, providing excellent opportunities to develop interaction and integration programs. We are a small, safe, secure, family-friendly school. All groups include 1 teacher and 1 educational support staff, with student numbers averaging between 6-8 students per group. All programs are based on the belief that all students have the capacity to learn and can experience success. Mornington Special Developmental School aims to provide a friendly, safe, and structured learning environment for students to prepare for their rightful place in society. A fundamental element in achieving this aim is to ensure a positive partnership between parents and staff, with effective communication being key.
Selection CriteriaDemonstrated high level experience in inclusive education practice (teaching and learning), building school staff capability, and developing processes for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration.Demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based intervention strategies for students with disabilities.Demonstrated ability to input into the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes and strategies related to teaching students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.Demonstrated ability to provide explicit advice to teaching staff to assess and monitor student achievement in line with the Victorian curriculum.Highly developed communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.Ability to provide leadership, professional learning, and coaching that informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice and modelling exemplary practice in inclusive education.Delivering high quality, explicit technical advice and coaching support on best-practice for educators.Supporting the school-based leadership team to use whole-school data and establish processes to develop a high performing, inclusive school culture.Implementing professional learning and supporting schools to design, implement, and monitor interventions.Modelling effective inclusive education practices and supporting teachers to seek, analyze, and act on feedback.Providing leadership and professional learning to ensure quality inclusive practices are provided by schools.Maintaining professional competence and attending ongoing professional learning.Collecting and analyzing implementation and evaluation data of the Inclusion Outreach Coaching initiative.Who May ApplyRequired Currently hold registration or be eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.A graduate or postgraduate qualification in special/inclusive education and/or disability.Experience in various school settings.Demonstrated experience in inclusive education.Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.Other Relevant Information A current driver's licence is mandatory.Successful applicants are subject to a satisfactory criminal record check prior to employment.Please ensure that your application includes: A section that addresses the key selection criteria.A resume including relevant experience and personal details.Names and contact details of two referees.Child Safe StandardsVictorian government schools are child safe environments.
